Wild Offerings: Rose Hip Jelly and Autumn Olive Berry Jam

Waste not, want not. My friends Bert and Bob brought me a colander full of huge rose hips/seed pods from wild Maine roses. A few days later my neighbor and friend, Erin and I picked autumn olive berries. (They’re an invasive bush/small tree here in Ohio but the fruit is full of antioxidants and worth the time to pick). Both fruits are tart. So yummy.

Here’s photos of the berries, hips and jams. The rose hips are in the blue carton and below that, the lovely jelly. See the tiny berries on the autumn olive tree? And what a ruby red color that jam is!   Let me know if you want the recipes!
