Prune basil for a longer harvest

If you want a continued harvest of annual herbs, like basil, you need to cut the flower heads off. Yes, you can use them in foods. But if you don’t cut the flowers off, they signal the plant to go to seed, leaf production declines, and leaves are not as tasty. So until you get the first cold chill, basil will keep giving & giving.  IF you prune.  Prune just above where 2 leaves grow, called the joint. You’ll see new growth appear from that area in a week or so.
