I told you I’m going to try making citrus extracts from food grade oils, like the kind in tiny bottles you buy at the store in the baking aisle. So far, I’ve had great success with lemon and orange! Here’s the recipe:
4 oz. vodka
1/4 teaspoon lemon or orange oil (that’s the amount I like – you taste and go from there if you want a stronger flavor)
It’s ready to go right away – no waiting! Now before you use it you will have to give it a shake since the oil in the extract floats to the top a bit. And when you shake it, it will get a little cloudy. Not to worry, though.
No kidding, these extracts are soooo good!
