Mint, chives and basil elevate steamed potatoes

DSCN1647I was weeding the herb garden when I noticed the Genovese basil starting to flower. Already!  The Kentucky Colonel mint was spilling out of its container and the stems threatened to root in the ground next to it.  Then I looked over at the onion chives – they needed a haircut (I cut them down to ground level for another flush of growth). So after pruning, I had a nice amount of herbs to toss with for steamed and buttered new potatoes. Yum!
