Is organic chicken better than regular?

I get this question a lot, so I’ve done some testing. I purchased organic chicken from Jungle Jim’s here in Cincinnati and also chicken from the regular meat department.

What I found is that, yes, the organic chicken was juicier and to my palate, more flavorful. Especially noticeable when a simple pan fried chicken was made.

But here’s the deal: the chicken from the meat department fared very well, also. Especially where the chicken was part of the ingredients, like in chicken enchiladas.

So it’s up to you. If your budget allows, go for organic. If not, your reputable grocer has other options, as well.

The trick with both is not to overcook or your meat will be dry.

    I have found that Amish chickens are better tasting and moister than other chickens. I think it’s because of the way they are raised, and I believe they don’t use chemicals of any kind. Do you know if that’s correct ???
