Frangolino

DSCN1576What is it about strawberries that has you so captivated? Today more requests came in for strawberry recipes, and one that was requested was Frangolino, the strawberry liqueur/vodka. So, here’s how to make it:

Frangolino/Strawberry Vodka

One 500 ml bottle vodka

1 pound strawberries, hulled

Combine both in a covered container. Put in cool, dark place for 3 weeks. Now do this:

In a small pan over medium high heat, cook together 1-1/4 cups sugar and 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water.  Bring to a boil, then simmer for a minute, making sure sugar is dissolved. Cool and then stir this syrup into vodka mixture. Let stand again, this time 2 weeks.

Strain and transfer to a bottle. Refrigerate until ready to serve over shaved ice or in this favorite vodka drink:

Strawberry Chi Chi

 

In a blender, mix until smooth:

2 oz. each Frangolino and coconut cream

4 oz. pineapple juice

1 cup ice

A few fresh strawberries
