Butter Pecan Cake a Reader Favorite for Labor Day

Butter Pecan Cake

Butter Pecan Cake

I have never received so many repeat requests as I have for Butter Pecan Cake. Starts with a cake mix which makes it easy even for beginners. One of my colleagues at Fox 18 brought this in – his mom made it and everyone came back for seconds. There were only crumbs by the time I got to it after I segment!

Butter Pecan Cake

1 box butter pecan cake mix (18.25 size)

3 large eggs

1 stick melted butter, regular or unsalted

1 cup water

1 can, 14 oz, sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)

1/2 bag Heath candy bits, reg. or chocolate, 8 oz bag

Preheat oven to 350. Beat cake mix, eggs, butter and water well. Pour into sprayed 9×13 pan. Bake 25-35 minutes or until cake is done. Toothpick inserted in center should come out clean. Check after 30 minutes or so. Poke holes all over and while cake is still warm, pour can of milk over cake, spreading it so that it goes into all the holes.  Depends upon how moist and sweet you want it).  Sprinkle Heath candy over that. Let sit 20 minutes. Store in frig. Serves 12-18.
