APPLE GINGER SPARKLERS FOR THANKSGIVING

APPLE GINGER SPARKLERS

Martha Stewart editors came to Macy’s Kenwood for my special class and everyone loved this drink. Here’s my adaptation. Another nice drink for the holiday.

 

1 1/2 cups Ginger Syrup (recipe follows)

6 cups sparkling apple cider or regular cider

Garnish: optional but nice: 6 cinnamon sticks and 6 pieces crystallized ginger or a sprig of mint

 

Place 2-3 tablespoons syrup in each of six glasses. Fill glasses with ice cubes; pour in cider. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and crystallized ginger. Serve immediately.

 

Ginger syrup

1 cup sugar

1 three-inch piece fresh ginger (4 oz) peeled and sliced

1 cup water

In small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the sugar, ginger, and 1 cup

water to a boil. Cool completely; strain. Store in an airtight container, refrigerated, up to 1 week. Serves 6
